Checking the Ferry and Had An Adventure Today

Image
Yesterday was Thursday and we decided to take it easy.  We had a slow start and had lunch very close to our apartment.  We have decided to avoid two big meals each day.  We hiked down 200 vertical feet to the harbor to figure out how the ferries worked.  Then hiked back up!    We went for a 5 o’clock wine nearby and enjoyed watching the people go by.  They buildings are very close together with 10 feet between them.  This is the old town and only scooters and bikes can go down the narrow streets.   We love watching the people - all kinds of people - all shapes and sizes and countries.  Then back home for a snack of cheese and percutto and wine.  It was a nice day in sorrento. Today we planned on a hike out to the Roman ruins at the end of the isthmus.  We walked up to the top of the hill above sorrento and the views were great.  We were on a narrow road and a small garbage truck headed right for us with not much roo...

Laundry Day

Image
We arrived last night into Sorrrento and it had just finished raining.  We walked to our Airbnb and were taken by the father is the family that owns the place.  He showed us around and then we were on our own.  I went out and grabbed a few things but then we went to bed.   This morning we started into doing ALL our laundry.  Basically we washed everything we had.  They don’t have dryers here so you hang everything to dry.  We we had a nice lunch nearby then did alot of walking around our neighborhood.  We are in the heart of old down Sorrento where it’s walking only - though the motor scooters do fly down the narrow lanes.   We did about 6 small loads of all our clothes and some will dry overnight.  Great to have everything clean and dry. We went down to the cliff above the Mediterranean around 5 and enjoyed several glasses of the local white wine.  The sun was setting behind the hill and it was beautiful evening. Then back h...

Bye Cinque Terre Hello Sorrento

Image
We had a wonderful stay in Cinque Terri with Sandy and Jim but now we head for Sorrento for a 3 week stay.   Cinque Terre was a seaside dream.  Hiking was fabulous.  The villages are so wonderful with buildings hanging onto the cliffs and each one a different color.  Yellows and green and salmon.  We did some shopping which we now have to lug along.  We bought  a tray which a local artist made.  It has fish figures and will be wonderful for caprese. Dinner last night was wonderful and we all had pizza made to perfection.   This morning we packed up and headed to the train station.  We have 4 total trains to get to Sorrento and only 1 left.  Much better than driving in Italy.  Our adventure continues !
