Another Fun Day In Sorrento
We did several fun things on Monday including shopping, finding a new beach and a wonderful cooking class.
We had a cooking class scheduled for Monday evening so wanted to take it easy before that event.
We headed out around 10 and did some shopping that we had been talking about for awhile. Our pile of gifts continues to grow along with the new clothes we bought for ourselves. We plan on shopping about 20 pounds of stuff home to lighten our load.
We had a light lunch of caprese and ragu bolognese. We went to our favorite local restaurant which is just steps from our airbnb. The waiters know us well and we enjoy spending time there - sitting outside and watching the people go by. There is a very high end hotel just opposite the restaurant and we had a couple people arrive with high end luggage and very clothes. The price is 500 euros per night so definitely high end.
We took a stroll down to the ocean and saw a beautiful blue cruise ship that was from Ritz Carlton. I had seen people with Ritz gear on early this morning on my way to breakfast but didn’t know they had their cruise line.
We walked from there down the cliff to the next garden. Then we continued down a lane we had never walked but there was a lot of foot traffic. It ended up leading to marina that we had seen many times on our hiking adventures. It was more of a local area with kayaks and boats right st the beach. We walked to the end where locals were chumming the water with day old bread and then catching some small fish that were right at the waters edge. It t was fun to explore this area.
We walked back up to the park and sat and did some more people watching. We see ‘influencers’ every day taking hundreds of pictures in flattering poses and then reviewing them before shooting more. We assume that they have enough followers to make it worth their while.
We headed back to it Airbnb to take a break before our cooking class.
The class was literally across the alley from our front door. We had seen it when we arrived and we signed up! We chose the ‘Land’ class which was eggplant Parmesan, homemade pasta with bolognese sauce and ending with tiramisu. The chef and his helper were wonderful and we had a great time making each of the dishes. The wine was also wonderful.
We have an early start on Tuesday so this wonderful meal will tide us over.
