Camino Hike

We decided to do a hike up into the hills above Sorrento.  It took us up a steep trail headed for a small local church.  Along the path they had placed the 12 stations of the cross in individual monuments.  They were each unique and very pretty.  The church itself was very small but pretty.

The trail continued upward into the hills with wonderful views back done to Sorrento and the Mediterranean Sea.  Some of the track was rough and narrow.  One part was almost wiped out by rock slides but we made it thru safely.

We topped out at 1,075 feet with a beautiful view down the valley.  On the walk up and down was beautiful olive groves and lemon groves.  There were beautiful and simple homes along the way.  The olives are being picked on some areas where others have a ways to go.

The hiked down was on an ancient walkway next to many houses that had been there for a LONG time.  We were careful to be sure we didn’t slip.

We finished in the village of Santa Lucia and then down to Sorrento.  It was a wonderful hike which reminded us of our Camino walks.

We had lunch at a Bistro 86 then took a break.  We went shopping in the afternoon for many gifts to bring home for family and friends.  Dinner was at a ‘Buffalo Mozzarella’ restaurant and it was wonderful.  Jack finished with a cappuccino and will still be able to sleep tonight.

Another wonderful day in Sorrento.
