Walking To The Library

When we visit larger cities Jack enjoys visiting the local library.  The one in Siena was spectacular so we hoped this one might be nice too.  We knew the walk was 3 miles each way but we thought it would be fun to see the suburbs on foot.  We saw the same road in the can yesterday but walking is always alot more fun for us.

One interesting feature is that there seemed to be a hairstyling shop on every block - especially as we got further from old town.  The road was very busy which made walking a little challenging but this isn’t our first rodeo and we got along fine.

As we got close to the library we decided to stop for lunch.  We found a nice neighborhood pizza place that was busy and had a long menu.  W chose a simple veggie pizza with olive oil and buffalo

Mozzarella and zucchini.  It was an outstanding pizza and we ate whole thing.  The place was hopping with locals stoping by and we were the only tourists in the place.  That is always fun!

We continued to the library and discovered this one had  NO BOOKS - just tables for studying. The lady at the front said this is a ‘new concept library’.  Not much we could say but smile and leave.

We stopped by a beautiful local cathedral that wasn’t open but it looked amazing.

Then we headed back on the same road.  The traffic was about the same and it was fun to watch these HUGE BUSES navigate these narrow roads.  At one point we stopped on a bench and watched the traffic fly by in both directions.  The scooters are so fun - some driven like kamikazes as they jump into the oncoming lane to speed ahead.

We had started laundry before we left and kept shuffling loads.

Tonight we went out to one of our local restaurants to drink wine and watch people go by.  So many different sizes and shapes and colors of people.

We will finish the night with gelato!

Another fun day in Sorrento.
